Cassandra Cunningham was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and has been creating art since her childhood. Cassandra’s perspective and experiences inspire her work across a variety of mediums as she explores themes of de-colonialism, self-acceptance, memory, and transformation. Cassandra is currently pursuing her B.F.A in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University, and seeks to make a difference in her community through her artwork. The main objective of her artistic practice is to allow others to feel seen as she works to articulate and communicate shared experiences that cannot be put into words. Cassandra’s work centres the viewer as an integral part of each piece, and she thinks about audience interaction and connection throughout her creative process. Her work also challenges the restrictions of spoken and written language, grappling with communication visually through colour, texture, and line.
